Biography

Mary was born on June 5, 1775 in Westbrook, Maine (then Massachusetts). She was the daughter of Jotham Libby and Catherine Skillin.[1][2]

Mary married Abel Chase on August 8, 1798 in Portland, Maine.[3] Their children, born in Westbrook, were:[4]

  1. Eliza, b. 1 Aug 1800
  2. Hannah, b. 2 Aug 1802
  3. Henry, b. 14 Aug 1803; d. 9 Aug 1814
  4. Mary, b. 29 Dec 1804
  5. Edward, b. 9 Jun 1806
  6. Nancy, b. 14 Feb 1808
  7. Abel, b. 22 Jun 1809
  8. Catherine, b. 26 Apr 1811
  9. John, b. 26 Oct 1812
  10. Abigail, b. 3 Dec 1814

Mary died on April 14, 1823.[5] Her husband remarried to Lydia Palmer the following year.[6]
