"A Plea For Better Schools.

So do you. We have made inquiries from many sources regarding Miss Florence Lighthizer, one of the candidates for County Superintendent, and this is what we learn;

1— The Republican candidate. Miss Lighthizer, has the best, recommendation a western teacher can have. She taught four years at Sidney, lowa, two years at Hartington, Nebraska, and is teaching her fourth year in the Hayden valley. Miss Lighthizer has always been recalled to positions where she has taught. Any one of the localities, either in Nebraska, lowa or Colorado, where she has wielded the rod (of kindness) would gladly welcome her to a position in their schools.

2 The Chairman of the Democratic County Central Committee was a member of the board of education at Hartington, Nebraska, at the time that board unanimously re-elected Miss Lighthizer as one of its teachers. He stated, before the conventions were held this fall, that Miss Lighthizer was, in his estimation, the best qualified person in the county for the position of County superintendent.

3 We accept the above statement, for it is backed by everyone, regardless of party, wherever she has taught. Miss Lighthizer is a republican, but in this office ability is what counts.

4 Her own school work is thorough, and she would require thorough work fram the teachers of the county. The curse of the schools today is the “hurry up” way in which so many teachers rush pupils through half completed work for their own glorification.

5 She has exceptionally strong executive ability and if elected we predict an educational awakening throughout Routt county. No ruts,

6 Last, but not least, Miss Lighthizer bears an unblemished reputation. She is not a giddy or frivolous girl, but a womanly woman, a ladylike lady, and one to whom the parents can safely trust the education of their children, knowing that through her the best educational work will be accomplished. On election day, no matter what ticket you vote, place a cross after the name of Florence Lighthizer for the beat interests of the most important part of our civilization, our public school system."
