Lucia Ligotino is born 20 December 1837 in her parents' home on via Santa Rosalia and is baptized the next day. She is the daughter of Carmelo Ligotino, a peasant, and Maria Rosa Mannina.[1] Lucia shares her name with a sister who dies in infancy four months before her birth, during a cholera epidemic. The sisters are named after a paternal aunt.
Lucia's godparents are Bernardo and Vincenza Ligotino, a married couple.
Lucia is confirmed at just six months of age, on 19 June 1838. Her sponsor is Orsola Paternostro.
In 1839, Lucia, age two (b. 1839), is the youngest child in the household. Her father, Carmelo, reportedly age 37 (he is 39 this year), mother Maria Rosa, 31, and siblings Salvatrice, 13, Anna Maria, 11, Salvadore, 9, Vincenzo, 7 (he is six), live with her on the strada di Trapani.
Lucia marries Ciro di Gregorio, son of Dominico and Maria di Miceli, on 6 February 1881. Both of Lucia's parents have died by this time.
Lucia dies aged 71 on 10 January 1909.[2]Ciro remarries the same year.
