Mary immigrated to Australia aboard the barque "Prince Regent" leaving Plymouth 8th November 1850 and arriving in Port Adelaide, South Australia on 5 March 1851.[5][6]
John Pearse married Elizabeth Mary Lindsey in Snake Valley, Grenville, Victoria on 20 August 1868.[7] They had the following children:
Mary died in Wagga Wagga private hospital on 20 May 1930.[19][20][21][22]

The death took place at a Wagga private hospital on Tuesday night of a very old pioneer lady in Mrs. Mary Elizabeth Pearse, of Currawarna. aged 81 years. The late Mrs. Pearse was the widow of Mr. John Pearse, of "Pine Grove," Argoon, Jerilderie, who died in 1898.
She was born at Lincoln, England, being the eldest daughter of the late Mr. and Mrs William Lindsay, and she came to Australia with her parents as a child. They first settled in Victoria, at Mount Erin, coming to New South Wales in 1876. Mrs. Pearse who was married at Ballarat, leaves a family of three sons and six daughters, Messrs. David (Echuca), John Albert (Albury) and Enos (Boree Creek), Mrs. A. E. Robinson (Sydney), Mrs. W. Mason (Griffith), Mrs. E. Johnston (Currawarna), Mrs J. Coutts (Hay), Mrs. E. Jacobs (Junee), and Mrs C. Ball (Jerilderie). Two daughters, Mrs. J. Milne, of Downside, and Miss Elsie Pearse, and Mr. William Pearse, of Argoon, pre-deceased her. She also leaves 45 grandchildren and seven great grandchildren.
The late Mrs. Pearse was highly respected and was favorably known in the earlier days for her kind assistance to travelers. During the Great War she was a fine worker for the soldiers' comforts fund's, for which she knitted socks and made shirts.
