Biography

Hugh M Linn was born 2 Dec 1860 in Marion, West Virginina. He was the son of Samuel Linn and Lavina Spicer. [1]

1880 U.S. Census Samuel Linn (age 40; spelled Lin) and his wife Lavina (age 38) are living in Winfield, Marion, West Virginia with their children: Henry (age 20), Hugh (age 18), Grant (age 10), James (age 8), Jennie (age 5), Joseph (age 3), and Hattie (age 1, misspelled Hadox). Samuel is a farmer. Lavina is keeping house. Henry and Hugh are farm laborers. Henry, Hugh, Grant, and James have attended school in the past year. [2]

17 Nov 1898 Hugh M Linn married Permelia Frances Henderson in Marion, West Virginia.[3] [4]

Wills and Probate 5 Dec 1911 Daughter Mary V Henderson and son in law Hugh M Linn named executors of William D Henderson's will. He bequeathed his 284 acre farm to his daughters Sarah E Henderson and Mary V Henderson including all household, kitchen furniture, hay, grain, rough food, family provisions, wagons, carriages, harnesses, farming tools and implements, lumber, and any other personal property belongings to farm and all livestock; to daughter Permelia F Linn, $2250; to 4 grandchildren (children of deceased son Stephen W Henderson): Delmar Henderson; Drexie E Henderson; Ines M Henderson, and William D Henderson -$2250 (1/4 to each/to legal representative if minors).[5]


1920 U.S. Census Hugh M Linn (age 58) and his wife Permelia Francis (age 50) are living in Marion, West Virginia. Both were born in West Virginia. Hugh is a farm operator. [6]

He passed away 1 Nov 1947 in Marion, West Virginia. Spouse: Permelia Linn; Parents: Samuel Linn and Lavina Linn [7]

He is buried in Glady Creek Cemetery in Marion, West Virginia.[8]
