Biography

Edouard was born about 1880. He was the son of Benjamin Lizotte and Philomene Bleau. He passed away in 1953. [1]

PLATTSBURGH PRESS REPUBLICAN – April 18, 1953 – 71 years ago Altona Funeral Director Dies

“Edward X. Leazott, 73, of Altona, died this morning after a long illness. Mr. Leazott, funeral director at Altona for the past 40 years, at one point also having branches in Ellenburg and Rouses Point. He was born in 1880 and lived in Altona all his life.

He is survived by his wife, one son, Kenneth E. Leazott of Altona, two daughters, Mildred Leazott of Altona and Florence Hendee of Syracuse: one sister, Mamie B, Leazott of West Chazy, five grandchildren, Janice, Timothy and Thomas Leazott of Altona, Robert and Marylea Hendee of Syracuse. Several nieces and nephews also survive.

Prayer service will be conducted at his late residence at 2 p. m. Sun day. It will be followed by funeral services at 2:30 at the Nazarene Church in Altona. Burial will be in the church cemetery.

Mr. Leazott was a member of the Grange. Having spent most of his life in Altona, he was always a staunch supporter of anything good for his community. He was especially anxious to see the boys and girls of Altona have an opportunity to get the best education possible.”

Edward’s son, Kenneth, continued the business in Altona. Ken’s wife, Eleanor, was one of the first female undertakers in the area. She was known as the “Licensed Lady Assistant,” in their advertising. The couple gave up the business in 1985.
