Frank Lloyd was a Scottish-American Academy Award-winning film director, scriptwriter, and producer. He's known for Mutiny on the Bounty (1935) and Cavalcade (1933).
Lloyd was president of the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences from 1934-1935 and a founding member of the Screen Directors Guild.
Lloyd was born on 2 Feb 1888 in Glasgow, Scotland. He immigrated to Canada in 1909 with a theatre group. He married actress Alma Haller on 11 Jul 1913 in Los Angeles, California. Their only daughter was born in 1914. During WWII, he served in the U.S. Air Force by leading the 13th Air Force Combat Camera Unit and produced short documentaries.
He passed away in 1960 in Los Angeles, California. Lloyd is buried near his first wife Alma at Forest Lawn Memorial Park in Glendale, California.
