Biography

Hendrik Lobach was born about 1766 in Maastricht ^*).

At an unknown moment and for unknown reasons, Hendrik moved from Maastricht to Alkmaar where in 1793 he married Catharina Lemmens (a native of Alkmaar).
On 19 April they reported at the local authorities in order to pay the tax on marriages ^[1]. Not that they had to pay anything: both were rated "onvermogend" (= "impecunious").
They registered their intention to marry with (apparently a different part of) the local authorities on 21 April ^[2].
According to this document the actual marriage (after the 3 compulsory public announcements) took place on 6 May 1793 at "the chambers of their lordships mayors".

On 22 March 1818 Hendrik and Catharina attended the ceremony when their son Josephus married Clasina Capitein. Hendrik (by then 52 years old and a shoemaker by trade) also co-signed the marriage deed.

Hendrik passed away in Alkmaar on 3 November 1847 ^[3] at the age of 81.

Research Notes

^*) The registration of Hendrik's death shows that he was born in Maastricht and that he was 81 years old when he passed away in 1847. This yields a date of birth of "about 1766". The same document claims that his father's first name would be "Joseph".
A considerable amount of time was spent leafing through the various books of baptism from Maastricht over that period but thus far no primary source for his birth/baptism could be found.
