Helen/Ellen's parents were James Loban, a House Contractor, and Catherine Mackenzie.
In her marriage to Donald Mckenzie her last name is spelt Lobban, not Loban. She gives as her place of residence Riverside, Inverness.[1]
She appears in the 1861 census [2] with Mary Loban as a visitor, age 12 who gives as her birth place Lochcarron, as does Helen.
Helen developed chronic rheumatism and was bedridden for the last 12 years of her life. Her second husband, Angus MacRae died in 1883 but it wasn't until April 1888 that her condition came to the attention of the Poor Relief [3] and she was granted 1/6 per week, which may have helped ease the last three months before she died.
