It appears that Oliver was a well educated man, as he was the editor of the "Western Sentinel" Newspaper, in New Castle, Lawrence County. This paper began production in August of 1837 and was a Whig paper with Whig policies. It was a small paper, with six columns and ended production in December of 1838.[1]
