Dodson Logsdon was born in Hart County, Kentucky on 8 Jun 1849.[citation needed] He was the son of William James Logsdon and Martha Sego. Before his birth, his parents, together with the families of their adult children, relocated with their younger children to the frontier of Iowa, settling in about 1848 in District 16 (later organized as Clear Creek Township) in Jasper County. It is possible his mother traveled back to Kentucky, to be with her family for his birth the next year and may have left him there until 1850, since the Iowa State Census of 1856 reported that he had lived in Iowa for only 6 years and had been born in Kentucky.[1] In addition, he did not appear in Iowa with his parents and older siblings on the 1850 census.[2]
He passed away in Eugene, Lane County, Oregon on 19 Sep 1920,[3] where he was buried in the I.O.O.F. Cemetery (afterwards renamed the Eugene Pioneer Cemetery).[4]
