Biography

Buried Walnut Hill Cemetary.

Note: #NI75.

Notes

Note NI75Franz and Mary were married in St. Thomas Chapel, Milstadt, Illinois. This was the second marriage for both. He is buried in Belleville, Il. Although the death certificate states that he was buried in Walnut Hill Cemetery there is no record of burial at the cemetery. Dave and Mary searched National Archives in Washington, D.C. on 8/2/89. We found no record of Franz serving in the Civil War (Union) from either Missouri or Illinois. Franz possibly had a child by a previous marriage, namely Edward, born approximately 1852 in Bohemia (according to the 1860 U. S. Census). Franz died at the Belleville County Farm, a hospitalhome for the sick. 1

Franz was buried from St. Peter's (Catholic) Cathedral, 200 West Harris on St., Belleville Ill. 62220-2090; Phone: 618-234-1166. Page 143 of the parish records shows the funeral took place July 13, 1883. "Franciscus Lossus, 73a10m, maritus Mariae Lossus".
