Biography

Harriet Susanna was born on the 5th June 1841[1][2] at Stratford, West Ham, Essex, England[3][4] and baptised on the 15th August 1841 at All Saints, West Ham, Essex, England, the daughter of Thomas Loveday (Warehouse man) and Jemima Loveday [sic] of Stratford[1].

Harriet Susanna was actually the illegitimate daughter of Jemima Perry and Harriet Susanna's parents did not marry, and she used her mother's surname of Perry.

In 1871, Harriet Susanna was working as a lady's maid in the household of widow Anna Sophia Innes at The Heath Fern Lodge, Hampton, Middlesex, England[4].

Harriet Susanna's mother Jemima remained unmarried and worked as a cook and died in 1875.

In 1881, Harriett was a lady's maid in the household of Charles J. Bevan at 4 Bryanston Square, Marylebone, Middlesex, England[5].

Research Notes

As Harriet Susanna was in service, she may have moved to anywhere in the country. The name Harriet Perry was quite common, and she may have died, married or emigrated after 1881. There is no obvious marriage/death for a Harriet Susanna Perry, so she may just be recorded as Harriet Perry and if she had no surviving close family, her age at death could be out by several years.
