Konrad was born in 1796 in Harxheim, Rhineland-Pfalz, Germany. He was the son of Heinrich Lowenberger and Elisabeth Haas.
Konrad and his family moved to the Lutheran community of Landestreu, Galicia, (in what is now Ukraine) as part of the Josephine Settlement movement. He is first found in the Landestreu records in 1812, living in House Number 36.
Johann Konrad married Maria Elisabetha Kohlenberger on the 29th of August, 1813, in Landestreu and they had children.
Throughout his adult life, Konrad was listed in the town records as either a "Kolonist" or "Landmann" (countryman), living in House Number 36.
He passed away in 1871 from apoplexy called Schlagfluß in the German language. [1]
The Village Plat Map is linked below: although it is from a later date, it shows the layout of the community and imparts a sense of what living in the small community would have been like.
