Biography

Martha Ann Lucas was born December 2, 1857, in Benton county, Missouri, the daughter of John Lucas and Mary Jane Reader.

Around 1873, Martha Ann married William David Scrivner, Jr. son of William David and Nancy A. Scrivner. Children of Martha and Elder W.D. Scrivner include three daughters that married three sons of the same family:

  • John Wesley Scrivner, born May 17, 1874, died September 7, 1932, in Laclede county, Missouri, married Mary Clementine Turner
  • William Richard Scrivner, born July 29, 1879, in Montreal, Camden county, Missouri, died July 22, 1953, in Sleeper Laclede county, Missouri, married Majjie Jane Partlow, daughter of Benjamin Allen Partlow and Ruth Ellen Campbell
  • Ida Avis Scrivner, born August 13, 1882, in Camden county, Missouri, died March 31, 1967, in Iberia, Miller county, Missouri, married Charles Madison Bradley
  • Ada I. Scrivner, born August 8, 1884, in Montreal, Camden county, Missouri, died July 15, 1958, in Springfield, Greene county, Missouri, married James T. Downing, son of William Harvey Downing and Mary Catherine Cotten
  • Nancy Ann Scrivner, born February 11, 1887, died July 9, 1953, in Eldon, Millier county, Missouri, married Samuel Edward Downing, son of William Harvey Downing and Mary Catherine Cotten and brother of James, who married her sister, Ada
  • Mary Frances Scrivner, born December 14, 1890, in Montreal, Missouri, died January 14, 1966, in Washington Township, Franklin county, Missouri, married Joseph W. Downing, son of William Harvey Downing and Mary Catherine Cotten and brother to James and William, who married Mary's sisters.
  • David Seth Scrivner, born January 29, 1893, died February 14, 1944, in Eldon, Miller county, Missouri

Martha (Lucas) Scrivner died November 28, 1904 and is buried in the Old Riverview Cemetery, in Four Seasons, Camden county, Missouri. There is a photograph of the headstone that she shares with her husband on her Find A Grave memorial. [1]
