WEDDING NOTICE

Source: Otago Daily Times, Issue 23788, 20 April 1939
Item Details: WEDDINGS. Lumsden—Dryden. The wedding took place on Easter Monday in "Our Hut," Tahakopa, of Campbell McPherson, youngest son of Mrs Lumsden, of Hina-Hina, and the late Mr Lumsden, and Margaret Isabel, eldest daughter of Mr and Mrs W. Dryden, of Tahakopa. The officiating minister was Mr W. A. Anderson, of Catlins, and Mrs Silcock played the bridal music.
The bride, who was given away by her father, wore a pretty gown of cream silk velvet, cut of close fitting lines, and having a spray of orange blossom at the neckline. The tulle veil was embroidered in the corners with true lovers' knots and fell from a coronet of orange blossom, and a spray of bridal lilies completed a pleasing toilet.
The bridesmaids were Misses Phyllis and Olive Dryden, sisters of the bride. They wore gowns of clover chiffon over satin, and gold sashes, and the flowers in their hair toned with their frocks. Bouquets of sweet peas and maidenhair fern were carried. The best man was Mr Tom Illingsworth, and the groomsman Mr Harry Miller, cousin of the bridegroom. After the service the guests, who numbered over 50, adjourned to the Tahakopa Hall where the wedding breakfast was held.
Mrs Dryden. assisted by Mrs Lumsden, received the guests, the former wearing a navy costume and the latter a black crepe de chine frock relieved with white and a black hat and coat. Both hostesses carried posies of roses. The bride's travelling frock was of London tan wool, worn with a nigger brown felt hat and brown coat Mr and Mrs C. Lumsden left later by car for the north. Their future home will be at Waikoikoi, Gore[6].
