Married Bishop Jackson Kemper
The inscription on Jerusha (Lyman) Kemper’s tombstone in the Christ Church Burial Ground has weathered away to illegibility; fortunately, it was recorded in an 1864 volume by church warden Edward L. Clark:
“Sacred to the memory of Mrs JERUSHA KEMPER wife of the Revd Jackson Kemper. She was born the 24th of June 1783 and departed this life on the 2nd day of November 1818.
Precious in the sight of the Lord is the death of his Saints.”
