Note N4224Elias Smith Lynn was named as the father on George Riley Lynn`s death certificate.

Enumerated 1840 as male age 5-10 under William R. Lynn (father) in Hopkins Co, pg 368 and again in 1850, Union Co, KY, p. 491 as son, E.S. Lynn, age 18, male, white, living with parents, born in KY.

In 1870 June 18, Smith Lynn could not write as he made his mark on a deed for land he sold in Palo Pinto Co, TX (Deed Book C, page 352).

1877 January 23, Deed Book E, Page 272 and 273, The State of TX, County: Palo Pinto.

E.S. Lynn signed his name so he must have learned to write since 1870 and his wife L.F.Lynn[Levina Francis Hailman as stated on George Lynn`s death certificate) made her mark in the sale of land in Palo Pinto Co, TX that they had owned only four years. It was sold to J. W. Lynn (Probably John W, Elias' brother) of the same county and state for sixteen hundred dollars.

1880 17th of June, we find Smith Lynn and Levina with 3 children, (Charles 17; Apsula 12 and Theodore 08; all born in TX, living in Grayson Co, TX, 15th precinct, Enumeration dist. 7, page 373, Sheet A.

1900 June 15 Indian Territory Census, Pickens Co, Chickasaw Nation; 6 South, Range 4 East Township, Enumeration District 149, Volume 8, Sheet 14. Elias S. Lynn in Dwelling #226 and family #230 is 67, married 8 years, born KY, Father born KY and Mother born VA.

Apparently Levina died and E.S. married Laura (Scott )McFarland, who was born January 1852, age 48, married 8 years, 6 children born and 3 alive. She was born in MO, her father in VA and mother in TN.

The three step children living with Elias and Laura were.

(1) Maggie F. McFarland, step-dau, b. Mar. 1881, age 19, single and born in TX.

(2)Charlie C. McFarland, step-son, born July 1888, age 13, born in TX.

(3)Irena A McFarland, step-dau, born November 1888, age 11, born in TX.

In addition, Marion BROOKS, boarder, white male born January 1834, in KY (both parents b. KY), was age 66 and widowed. This was likely a relative.

Elias died after 1900, probably in OK Indian Territory as he was last found there in 1900, age 67. 1

28 Jan 1881, E.S. Lynn lived in Grayson County, Texas, and sold 148 acres of land patented to Wm Metcalf Assee San Antonio and Mexican R.R. Co. by virtue of certificate No. 38 issued by Edward Clark, Comr., of Claims on 28 March 1858. Said Letter Patent is known as No. 39 Vol. 7 for 160 acres of land. This land was in Palo Pinto County, Texas and sold to D.L. Cunningham.
