Modestus J. "Dessie" Maag, 88, of Lakeview, OH passed away Thursday morning, March 3, 2016, surrounded by his wife and all of his daughters. He was born on February 12, 1928 to Albert and Stella Kaufman Maag in Kalida, OH, who preceded him in death. He married the former Joanne Schroeder on January 31, 1953 and she survives . He is also survived by 9 daughters.

Dessie was a life-long farmer, loving husband and father. He was active in the community and his parish of St. Mary of the Woods Catholic Church, Russells Point, OH, the Knights of Columbus Father Anthony Wolf #4378, Russells Point, the 4th Degree Knights of Columbus, Gasper del Buffalo Assembly #825, and the Indian Lake Moose Lodge #1533. Dessie and his wife enjoyed traveling as well as hosting six foreign exchange students. He was a jack of all trades and master of most. He enjoyed many family gatherings.
