Catherine MacDonald, daughter of weaver and crofter Duncan MacDonald and Mary Buchanan, was born in about February 1851 on Isle of Skye in the Parish of Portree, Invernessshire, Scotland.[1][2][3][4][5][6][7][8][9][10] She had several siblings:
Catherine died of cardiac weakness and cerebral thrombosis at 1 p.m. on May 12, 1936 in Upper Ollach, Isle of Skye.[8][9][10] She was 85 years of age.[8][9] The informant for her death was her son, Archibald MacPherson.[8]
