Biography

I believe the MacIntyre's of Broad Cove Banks all descend from John MacIntyre Sr. However, Hugh here, seems to be the one caveat as he appears to have no relation and did have a family of his own. The death registration of his son James indicates that James was born in Scotland around 1829 which means Hugh likely came much later (30+ years after) than John MacIntyre's family.

On his death registration Hugh is stated as being from Scotland, born about 1796 and died at 70 years of age in Mabou. This would easily place him in line as John MacIntyre Sr's son, but the literature does not mention him. His death registration also states that his father is Alex MacLeod.. it would seem Hugh was adopted at some point and thus was probably not of those same MacIntyres. If he were, there would have been family around to take care of him and no need to be adopted.
