At the request of the Mayor of Alexandra (Mr A. McKellar) business premises in Alexandra were closed this afternoon during the funerals of Mr John M. Frater, his daughter, Mrs Irene White, and her two young sons. Mrs Frater was among the injured, Alexandra’s association with the tragedy was substantial, as, in addition to these victims, Mr Charles McKenzie, who also lost his life, was employed there by Mr W. J. Robertson for some years. Mr John Wright, who recently returned from the Middle East, was employed in the Railways Department at Alexandra before his enlistment, and Mr John E. O'Connell, of Hyde, was a brother of Father O'Connell, of Alexandra.[PRESS, VOLUME LXXIX, ISSUE 23969, 9 JUNE 1943][2]
