Biography
Based on the birth years of his two known children, George MacKie Sr was probably born in Scotland on or before 1768. This date is speculative, and it is possible that he was considerably older. His parentage is currently unknown.

He had two children baptised in the parish of New Machar. Both records giving his place of residence as “Highlands”[1]:
1. Ann MacKie (b.1784), whose baptismal record states:
“Ann Mackie / December 23. 1784 / George Mackie in Highlands had a Daughter baptized named Ann Witnesses John [?]Carey and Alexr [?]Tap”.[2]
2. George MacKie Jr (b.1786), whose baptismal record states:
“George MacKie / Decbr 25 [1786] / George Mackie in Highlands had a Son baptized named George, Witnesses Alexr Tap and John Shand”.[3]
Neither of the baptismal records provide the name of the children's mother, but this appears to be the case in all records on the respective pages of the register, so whether George was married has not yet been determined.[4]
The date and location of his death have not been established.
