He was an elder of the Presbyterian Church for many years.
There is a headstone in the Port Hastings Kirk Cemetery with the inscription: Allan McQuarrie. Died 20 August, 1894. Aged 76. Clearly, this is not precisely the same as the data from the Presbyterian Witness, but it is linked to this page as a possibility for further investigation.
Allan is buried in the Kirk Cemetery, Port Hastings.[1]
