James (Jim) Mack, Sr. was born 20 January 1880,[1] in Magnolia, Columbia County, Arkansas. This is also based on the 1880 Census of Columbia County, Arkansas . Jim's place of birth was left blank on his military draft card, but his permanent residence and place of employment were both Magnolia, Columbia County, Arkansas.[2] Jim was a farmer by trade, working on the farm of J.S. Pickering of Route 2, Magnolia, Arkansas. When he registered for the World War I Military Draft on 12 September 1918, he was 38 years old, married to Emma Mack, of Route 2, Magnolia. His physical description included: Medium height, Medium build; brown eyes, and black hair. He had no physical malformities.
Census 1910 In 1910, Jim and Emma Mack were living on Atlanta Street, Magnolia Road, Brown, Columbia County, Arkansas. He was a farmer on his "Home Farm, Own Account," renting the farm. Jim was 23 years old and Emma was 21. Living with them was a son, Gradie, 3 and a daughter May W., age 1.8 years old.[3] He was living next door to Warren and Harriett Mack, age 59, who had been married for 42 years and had 16/14 children. Six of their children were still in their home. This is very likely the parents of James Mack.
