Meme (Mahnke) Edwardes was born in the Colony of South Australia (1836-1900)
Maria Anny Sophie Mahnke was born on 18 September 1874 at North Adelaide. Her parents were Diedrich Friedrich Georg Carl Heinrich Mahnke and Anny Georgine Wilhelmine Stakemann.[1]
MAHNKE. —On the 18th September, at Gover-street, North Adelaide, Mrs. Mahnke, of a daughter.

She married Henry Edmund Arthur Edwardes on 16 July 1904 at St Matthews Church, Kensington, South Australia. His father was Henry Powys Edwardes. Henry was 23, Maria was 28.[3]
EDWARDES-MAHNKE.-On the 16th July, at St. Mathew's Church, Kensington, by the Rev. R. W. Dempster, assisted by the Rev. M. Williams, H. E. Arthur, elder son of H. P. Edwardes of Norwood, to Meme, only daughter of the late D. Mahnke, of North Adelaide. At home 97 Gover street, North Adelaide. August 10, 11, and 12.
She died aged 56 on 21 February 1933 at Port Victoria, South Australia.[5]
EDWARDES. —On the 21st February, at Port Victoria, M. A. S. (Meme), beloved wife of H. E. A. Edwardes, and darling mother of Bon, Gwen, Bob, Roland, Charlie, Alison, Gerald, and Kathleen, aged 56 years.
