Mary was born in Thornborough, Buckinghamshire, England about 1828. She was the daughter of Thomas Mander 1798–1866 and Mary Austee 1798–1855, who had at least 4 other children (not profiled as of November 2022).
She married Esau Keys (1822-1896), a widower, in or near Buckingham in 1854.
Mary Ann arrived in Australia on the 16th April 1855 at the age of 27. She had left England aboard the vessel Rose of Sharon' with her husband and his son Frederick Keys (1844-1908) from his first marriage. Esau is listed as a farm labourer. [1]
She passed away in 1872 aged 44 [2]
