William Ira Manes was born on July 9, 1884, in Bradley, Tennessee, his father, William Manes, was 42 and his mother, Mary, was 40. He married Gertrude Elizabeth Kelley on July 4, 1907, in his hometown. They had four children in 15 years. He died on December 8, 1970, in Fresno, California, at the age of 86, and was buried there.[1]
