Robert, the son of Myron Manley and Laura Cleveland was born on 20 July 1867 in Claridon, Ohio.
In 1870, Robert (aka Robbie) was 3 years of age. He and his father, Myron (24 years), working as a farmer and mother Laura (25 years) were living with her parents Dr. John and Chloe (Butler) Cleveland in Burton, Ohio.[1]
Robert married Lillian Margaret Cahill, daughter of John and Anna J. (Buckard) Cahill, on 20 July 1899 In Lawrence, Kansas.[2]There were no children from this union.
The Manley family moved from Ohio to Lawrence, Kansas in 1887.[3]In 1900, Myron (56 years), who had previously worked as a druggist and now worked as a real estate agent, Laura (58 years), Robert (33 years), who worked as a Police Judge, and his wife Lillian (24 years) were residing together in Lawrence, Kansas.[4]

Robert Cleveland Manley, "graduated from the Kansas University Law School in the year 1896, and immediately began the practice of Law in the city of Lawrence. On July 20, 1899 -- his birthday -- he was married to Miss Lillian Cahill, of Lawrence. He was elected Police Judge, and is now serving his fourth year."[5]
"Mr. Manley was born in Ohio July 20, 1867, and came to Lawrence with his family...when he was sixteen years old. He attended the Lawrence Business college and worked in the law office of George J. Barker before attending the University. In 1897 he graduated from the school of law. Thirty years ago the Manley Insurance agency was organized. Up until five years ago...it was managed entirely by Mr. Manley. During that time, he served for several years as justice of the peace for Lawrence. Throughout his life Mr. Manley was active in civic affairs. He was a staunch member of the Congregational church, a Mason, the second Exalted Ruler of the Elks lodge and a member of the Phi Gamma Delta fraternity. Mr. Manley was an outstanding member of the Lawrence Rotary Club. He was a charter member when the club was organized in April, 1917. On July 20, 1899 he was married to Lillian Margaret Cahill, who survives him. They were constant companions and their lives were full of happiness. Mr. Manley was greatly interested in the outdoors and the beauty of nature. He had several hobbies unknown to many, such as the planting of flowers along the highways to beautify the countryside."[6]
Robert Cleveland Manley died on 15 September 1932 at 65 years of age in Lawrence Kansas.[7]he is buried in the Oak Hill Cemetery in Lawrence, Kansas.[8]
