EUNICE-A Mass of Christian Burial will be Celebrated Friday, September 14, 2007 at 11:00 am at St. Anthony Catholic Church in Eunice for Mr. Charles B. Manuel, 64, who passed away on September 11, 2007 at the Acadian Medical Center in Eunice. Rite of Committal will follow in the St. Edward’s Cemetery in Richard with The Reverend Fr. Tom Voorhies officiating.
Mr. Manuel was very active in the St. Anthony Catholic Church system serving in several capacities, such as Eucharistic Minister, President of the Church Council as well as the Knights of Columbus. He retired from the Louisiana State Police after 23 years of dedicated service and then 8 years as the Chief of Police of the City of Eunice.
A loving Husband, Father, Brother and Grandfather, Mr. Manuel is survived by his wife of 45 years, Janelle M. Manuel of Eunice; a son, Berkman Manuel and wife, Jane of Mandeville; two daughters, Monica Daville and husband, Scott, Michele Fuselier and husband, Mac all of Eunice; a brother, Steve “Ham” Manuel of Eunice; two sisters, Dolores McGee of Eunice, Faye Gilliam of Grosse Tete; seven grandchildren.
He is preceded in death by his father, Berkman Manuel, mother, Jimmie Lee LaHaye Hoffman; stepfather, Thomas Hoffman.
The family request that visiting hours be observed at Ardoin’s Funeral Home in Eunice on Thursday, September 13, 2007 from 10:00 am until 10:00 pm and again on Friday, September 14, 2007 from 8:00 am until time of services. A Rosary will be recited at 7:00 pm Thursday evening.
