Biography

Two sources[1][2] claim Esther was a sister of Gen. Francis Marion. Her will does appoint "my beloved friend Nathl Marion" as an executor. Need confirmation.

She married William Herring[3][1][2]

Esther died in Charleston District, South Carolina between making her will on 12/15/1812 and its proving on 1/22/1813.[4] Her will mentions daughter Eliza Lynes, son William Herring and son Benjamin Randolph.[4] Her estate division mentions son William Herring and daughter Eliza Lynes.[5] This implies perhaps two marriages: one to Herring and one to Randolph. She was a widow when she died.[4]
