Biography
Johann Georg (George) Marquardt (Marquet) was probably born in August 1852 in Niklashausen (Germany). His parents married soon after his birth (October 1852) and the family emigrated from Hamburg in November 1852 on the 'Triton' arriving in NSW in May 1853.
George married widow Minnie Barker (nee Hyde) in 1899 at Wallarobba, NSW, the marriage registered in Dungog, NSW. Minnie had had a son from her first marriage, Albert, born 1895 in England who took his step-father's surname to be 'Albert Hyde Marquet'.
George died in 1936, his death registerd at Dungog, NSW[1] and is buried with Minnie in Dungog cemetery[2].
