Dovie[1] Harrison Martin was born on January 22nd, 1893 in Willis, Montgomery, Texas to parents Henry Oliver Martin and Sinai Bell Kimmey. In 1900 his family was living in Conroe, Montgomery, Texas. In 1910, he was 18, single, and living with his widowed father, two brothers and his little sister in a rented house in Fifth Ward of Houston, Harris, Texas. He worked as a cigar maker in a factory but had also attended school in the last year. In 1912, Dovie was working in a Lard Department and in 1915 he was working as a meat cutter. When he registered for the draft in 1917, Dovie wrote that he was working in "oil mills." See his military service below.

Dovie was buried with his family in Hollywood Cemetery in Houston, Texas on the 4th of September, 1926. He died of blood poisoning. He may have died in August or September. If you have a more exact record, please add it here!
