The son of Jonas Martin Sr and Hannah (Hill) Martin, Jonas Martin was born in Bedminster, Pennsylvania[citation needed] in 1850. In 1860, he lived in the household of Jacob and Sarah High, residing in Bedminster and working for their family, at the age of 11, as a servant.[1]
Jonas married Mary (Crouthamel) Martin, the daughter of Michael E. Crouthamel and Barbara Ann Lutz, marrying in Doylestown, Pennsylvania on January 1, 1870[2] and having twelve known children together, including a child, born in 1892, who survived only one day. Jonas and hisfamily made their home in 1870 in Bedminster, where he worked as a farm laborer.[3] By 1880, they lived in Doylestown, Pennsylvania. where Jonas worked as a carpenter.[4][5][6]
Made a widower in 1912, Jonas remarried, marrying Jemima (Forsythe) Martin, the daughter of James Forsythe and Elizabeth Elder, marrying in Bucks County, Pennsylvania on August 27, 1913[citation needed] and making their home in Doylestown.[7][8]
Jonas Martin passed away in Doylestown, Pennsylvania[citation needed] at the age of 81 and is buried Doylestown Cemetery.[9]
