Laythan Leon Mask was born on December 29, 1946, in Monette, Arkansas, his father, Thurman Mask, was 23 and his mother, Doesha, was 22. He married Barbara Gail Hopper on January 24, 1968. They had two children during their marriage. He died on February 20, 2017, in Texas at the age of 70, and was buried in Mesquite, Texas.[1]

Laythan Leon Mask was the son of Pete and Doesha Lorene Mask. He is preceded in death by his parents; brother, Joe Junior Mask; and sister, Cathy Mask Shoemate.
He leaves behind his wife of 49 years, Barbara Gail Hopper Mask; children, Shadara Ann (and Christian) Waller and Vickie Denise Mask; grandchildren, John Jacob Risinger, Valyrie Michelle Risinger Sanchez, Laythan Wayne Mask, Mason McCartney Waller, Kyler Lee Waller, and Lucas Stanton Bennet Waller; siblings, Ray Mask and spouse, Carol of Camp, Arkansas, Vickie Lynn Haynes of Collierville, Tennessee, Ricky Mask of Wills Point, Texas, Diane Dunn and spouse, Randy of Mammoth Springs, Arkansas; mother-in-law, Helen Mask of Mesquite, Texas; brother-in-laws, Wayne Hopper Jr. of Corsicana, Texas, Jackie Mask Jr. of Mesquite, Texas; and numerous nieces and nephews.
