Biography

According to the Campbell Family Book, Elizabeth L Mason was born in Richmond Virginia in 1806. She was orphaned and then raised by an Aunt in Toronto Canada. The family then moved to Huntsville Alabama and it was here that Elizabeth married Rufus R Rathbone, a large plantation and slave owner. Only one child of the five children born to this union lived. It was George Washington Rathbone, born Dec 4, 1838 and died feb of 1910. He had two children, Rufus and Mollie

After the death of Rufus R. Rathbone, Elizabeth married Eli Littleton Dean, an artist who was born in New Jersey. The family moved to Aberdeen, Mississippi where Elizabeth and Eli Dean had 5 children.
