Biography

In the 1841 England Census George Mason 42 blacksmith, born about 1799, but not in Devon, was head of his household in Higher Market St, Tavistock, Devon, England. Household Members, all but George born in Devon, were: George Mason 42, and his wife Jane Mason 40. Their children were: Thomas Mason 15, Elizabeth Mason 12, William Mason 10, John Mason 8, Ann Mason 6, Charles Mason 3, Edwin Mason 1. [1]

In the 1851 England Census George Mason, 51 born about 1800 in Launceston, Cornwall, England, blacksmith, was head of his household in 33 Barley Market Street, Tavistock, Devon, England. Other Household Members were: his wife Jane Mason 49 born Tavistock, grocer, and their children, all born in Tavistock: Elizabeth Mason 22, William Mason 20, blacksmith, John Mason 18, farrier, Ann Mason 16, dressmaker, Charles Mason 13, scholar, and Edwin Mason 11, scholar. Their granddaughter, Ellenora Mason 1 Mo, was also residing with them. [2]
