The third child of ARTHUR EDMUND MASON and HENRIETTA 'Etta' A. COOK.

On September 2, 1939, at Marengo, Iowa County, Iowa, he married ALBERTA ‘Bertie’ M. WARD, she was born November 23, 1916, at Marengo, Iowa County, Iowa, the daughter of FLOYD RAYMOND WARD and MYRTLE ETHEL DeWALD.

They are the parents of four children, all of whom were identified as 'living' at the time of compiling this information, and will not, therefore, be Profiled by me, but it should be noted that in Melvin's obituary, his and Bertie's children are named but with minimal information. Melvin J. Mason

December 26, 1916 - January 24, 2007

A funeral service will be held on Monday, January 29, 2007 – 7:00 PM at Community United Methodist Church, Cedarburg, for Melvin J. Mason of Grafton, who died at Lasata Care Center on January 24, 2007, at the age of 90 years.

Visitation will be held at the church on Monday from 5-7 PM. Interment Woodlawn Cemetery, Grafton. In lieu of flowers, memorials to Community United Methodist Church appreciated. Online condolences may be sent by visiting www.muellerfuneralhome.com

Melvin was born on December 26, 1916, in Unity, WI the son of the late Arthur and Henrietta Nee Cook Mason.

Melvin graduated in 1936 from West Allis High School.

Melvin and Alberta “Bertie” were married on September 2, 1939, in Malcolm, Iowa. Melvin served in the United States Navy during WWII and was a life long member of the Rose Harms American Legion Post # 355, Grafton.

Melvin's favorite hobbies were helping with the boy Scouts of America, Dartball, coaching Little League Baseball, hunting, fishing and woodworking.

Most importantly he loved spending time with his grandchildren.

Melvin is survived by his loving wife of 67 years Alberta “Bertie” nee Ward; children: Barbara Robert Scherbert of Cedarburg, WI, Gary Sue mason of Hamburg, WI, Keith Pam Mason of Cedarburg, WI, and Kenneth Dolly Mason of Slinger, WI; a sister Mildred; 10 grandchildren, 17 great-grandchildren, 3 great great-grandchildren, other relatives and friends.

Mason, Alberta M. Bertie (nee Ward) of Cedarburg, November 2, 2009, age 92 years. Beloved wife of the late Melvin. Loving mother of Barbara (Robert) Scherbert, Gary (Sue), Keith (Pam) and Kenneth (Dolly). Dear sister of Lavan (the late Walter) Kettle. Further survived by 10 grandchildren, 17 great-grandchildren, 4 great-great grandchildren, other relatives and friends. Funeral service Thursday, Nov. 5, at 5:30 PM at Community United Methodist Church (W68 N563 Evergreen Blvd.), Cedarburg. Interment Woodlawn Cemetery, Grafton. Instate at the church Thursday 4PM until time of service. In lieu of flowers, memorials to The Kathy Hospice or Big Brothers Big Sisters of Ozaukee appreciated.
