It is a wonderful narrative on the life of what appears to be this James Jacob Mooney. There is a major discrepancy when the author writes that the brothers are of "Irish decent" but she is not a historian, genealogist (nor claiming to be an expert on that topic). Otherwise, there are too many parallels for someone not to look in to the story further. To quote: "...James was the son of Irish immigrant, Jacob Mooney and was the eighth of 10 known siblings. James was born about 1775 in Old Tryon County, North Carolina. In 1796 he married Miss 'Retta' Parnell and they lived on the land grant James had received on Jan. 4, 1793 'on the waters of Knob Creek, adjoining Mooney’s Corner.' Later they moved to Rutherford County, then on to Warren County, Tennessee. " She continues drawing parallels about the family and mentions a close cousin with last name MacDonald or McDonald who is killed during the war right before the Battle of New Orleans (possibly from which the Irish/Scottish origin was derived?) ultimately to describe his signing up to fight in the War of 1812 while mentioning three older brothers as we have here who did fight in the Revolutionary War. In he article she discusses James' decision to stay in TN or head south to Arkansas depending on "if things were going good" and to pick back up:
"...It wasn’t, and James and his cousin rode south to serve with “Old Hickory” Col. Andrew Jackson during the War of 1812. James was commissioned an “ensign” in the 29th Regiment of the Tennessee State Militia on March 22, 1813. He was following in the footsteps of three older brothers: Daniel, David and Jonathan who had all served with North Carolina regiments during the Revolutionary War."
