Biography

Emily was born about 1866. She is the daughter of John McAdam and Nancy Hurt. [1]

From Moberly Monitor-Index, Friday, 8-25-1939. pg. 4, Ancestry.com MRS. RUTHERFORD, SALISBURY, DIES SALISBURY, Aug. 25---Mrs. Emma Rutherford, 73, died at the home of her daughter, Mrs. Walter Cobb, Thursday evening after an illness of several months. Mrs. Rutherford, who was one of the children of the late J. P. (Uncle Doc) McAdams, was born in Iowa. In 1892 she was married to Charles W. Rutherford and they spent the greater part of their married life in the community south of Clifton Hill. Mr. Rutherford died about 23 years ago. After the death of a sister, about 17 years ago, she came to make a home for her father. She lived with him until his death, after which time she has made her home with her only child, Mrs. Water Cobb, southeast of Salisbury. She leaves three grandchildren and two great grandchildren. Besides these one brother, Wallace McAdams, of Prairie Hill survives. Mrs. Rutherford had been in failing health for more than a year. Last may she suffered a stroke of paralysis and had been in bad condition ever since. The funeral will be held at Pleasant Woods Church Saturday afternoon at 2:30 with Rev. A. T. Estes, pastor of the Salisbury Baptist Church, preaching the funeral sermon. Burial will be at the city cemetery.
