Ann was born circa 1763 in Scotland, per the 1850 census.[1] However, a family history done by Florence Dolph says she was from Connecticut, but it appears that she was actually born in Gallatin, Columbia County, New York. (Gallatin was formerly known as Livingstone and was later renamed Ancram). Her name is listed also in some places as McCarty. She passed away in 1854.[2] According to a family source, Anna and other Dolph family members were originally buried at the Dolph Burial Ground in Dunmore, Penna.,, but later moved to the Dunmore Cemetery.

Re: Parents: An Ann McArthur of the right age is listed in this church record: The Archives of the Reformed Church in America; New Brunswick, New Jersey; Gallatin Church, Records, Consistory Minutes, Baptisms, 1748-1900, as daughter of John McArthur and Sylvina Smit. The Ann in that record had brothers Alexander and Reuben, which were also names of Anna (McArthur) Dolph's children.
