Margaret McCaffrey was born about 1822 in Ireland. She was the daughter of John McCaffrey and Helena Duffy; who immigrated from Fermanagh, Northern Ireland shortly after her birth.
Margaret is often referred to as "Marguerite" in records on account of her settling in an area where French was the predominant language, but there is little doubt that her given name was "Margaret"; and it is spelled as such in her death record.
Margaret married Jean Couture on 23 Nov 1847 in Saint-Jean-Chrysostôme, Bas-Canada.[1] Their marriage was witnessed by Jean's brother, Joseph Couture; and his friend, Pierre Paradis; and by Margaret's friends, Patrick Bourke and Cormick Maguire.
She passed away on 9 May 1889 at Saint-Lambert-de-Lauzon, Lévis, Québec, Canada.
