Biography

John McConnell was born in Ireland before 1782. He was the father of Esther McConnell who married John Elder. In the History of Coshocton County, Ohio. regarding Cyrus Elder, it says that Cyrus was a: "...son of John, a native of Antrim county, Ireland, and Esther [McConnell] Elder, and grandson of John Elder and John McConnell, natives of Ireland."

I have read "History of Coshocton County" which names Esther's son, Cyrus Elder's grandfathers as John McConnell and John Elder. However, she named another son William McConnell Elder, which leads me to question whether Esther's father was named not John but William McConnell.
