Biography

Scott was born circa Feb 5, 1881 in Blackville, New Brunswick. He was a son of John and Catherine (Campbell) McConnell of Blackville.[1][2] His father was born in Scotland and was a millwright. His mother had emigrated from Ireland.[3]

Scott was listed as a laborer and unmarried on March 14, 1916 when he enlisted in the Canadian Expeditionary Force during World War I. He was assigned to the 73rd Regiment of the 132nd Battalion (North Shore).[1]

He died on March 22, 1917 at the age of 40 and is interred at Villers Station Cemetery, Villers-Au-Bois, Pas de Calais, France.[2]

His attestation papers list his date of birth as Feb 5, 1881. The 1881 census lists Scott's age as 2, which may contradict this.
