According to my mother (Noel's daughter), Noel operated a store on a plantation near Morgan City, Mississippi. At a later time, he taught high school mathematics in or near Greenwood, Mississippi. From the early to mid 1950's through early 1960's he was employed by the Leflore County Sheriff's Department as Tax Collector. In around 1963 he ran for and won the office of Chancery Court Clerk in Leflore County, a position which he help until his death.
Noel was a very kind man and was well respected in Greenwood. He was a member of St. Johns Methodist Church in Greenwood, where he sang in the choir. He actively worked to raise money for a new organ for the church, which was not installed until after his death. When it was installed, it was dedicated to his memory.
