Rachel was born about 1765. She passed away in 1825. She married John Cowan January , 1792 in Bourbon county, Kentucky. According to "The Family of William Cowan and Anna Wilson" her father James McCutcheon signed permission for the marriage. However, one of the marriage records (Film Number 000851644) erroneously listed a Wm. Anderson as the parent of the bride; he was a witness. Rachel listed the following children in her 1824 will: Caroline Cowan, Margaret Frankerbenger, Polly Kirkley, William Cowan, David M Cowan, James Cowan, John S Cowan, Miles Cowan, Thomas Cowan, and Wm Cowan. She divided livestock, bee hives, clothing, and household goods amongst her children and indicated Deborah Smith was to be paid for nursing services.
