There is no mention of a William McFarland in James McFarland's Will. See James McFarland (abt.1725-1810). Only children mentioned are James, Betsy, John, Robert, and Samuel. Should William be attached to this family? Or perhaps it was a preferred middle name if his name were James William and used William since his father had the same first name. Just a hypothetical, I can't find a source to back it up yet.
