John W. McGee appears in the Preston County personal property tax lists 1818-1850 from 1829-1850 and in the Preston County land tax lists 1821-1850 from 1832-1850. His land was on Three Fork Creek.
There is a Find A Grave memorial for him in the David City Cemetery, David City, Butler County, NE but he is not buried here unless he was reinterred as he died in Preston County, WV and was buried the next day. His widow didn't relocate to Butler County, NE until years after his death.
