Biography

Anne/Ann/Anna (Anna) Bridges McGivern was born on 18 June 1813 in Dunmanway, County Cork, Ireland, the daughter of James McGivern and Elizabeth Pattison and her siblings were John McGivern, Mary McGivern, Richard Pattison Mc Givern, Elizabeth "Bessie" McGivern and Margaret McGivern^[1].

Anne's brother, Richard, had moved to New Brunswick, Canada eleven years prior and Anne with two of her sisters had also migrated there soon after, with her brother John joining them in 1845Gand Manan^[1]

Anne married James Gilbert Hatheway in 1844 in New Brunswick, Canada, and their children were Sarah (Bessie) Elizabeth (Hathaway) Melick, John DeCourcy Hathaway and Frederick James Hathaway.

James died on 23 July 1851 and ten years later, Anne is found in the home of a sibling in St. George, Charlotte, New Brunswick ^[2], possibly her brother John Mcgivern^[3]. With her are her two sons, John ^[4] and Frederick ^[5].

Her daughter Sarah Elizabeth (Bessie) married Charles Melick in 1866 and, some time later, Anne and her two sons John and Frederick migrated to New Zealand, A date for their travel needs to be researched^[6].

Anna died on 10 February 1894 in Dunedin, New Zealand^[7][8][9].
