Biography
John McGrew was born on Oct. 13, 1760 to Finley McGrew and Dinah Cox.[1] His birth was recorded at the Menallen Monthly Meeting.
On Jun. 9, 1783, Finley McGrew produced a certificate to the Menallen Monthly Meeting for himself, wife Dinah and 8 children; James, Mary, Nathan, Finley, Dinah, Rebecca, Margaret and Jacob, from Hopewell Monthly Meeting bearing the date of Apr. 7, 1783 which was read and received.[2] Missing from this list was their eldest son, John.
